  1. Acropolis, Athens 

Acropolis is a rocky mount rising in the heart of modern Athens. The best known and most distinctive is the temple of Parthenon which located on top of the Acropolis. The construction of the Parthenon started in 447 BC, replacing an older temple that was destroyed by the Persians, and completed in 432 BC. During its long life the Parthenon has served as a temple, fortress, a church, a mosque and even as a powder magazine.

2. Delphi

Delphi, the religious center of the ancient world is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was once known as the center of the earth by ancient Greeks, with significant structures and ruins from the Temple of Apollo, which is one of the highlights of Delphi. Along with the Temple of Apollo there is also Athena Priene, a theatre and an ancient stadium.

3. Rhodes

Lying on the Aegean Sea, close to Turkey, The Island of Rhodes is one of the top tourists’ attractions in Greece. Rhodes is a perfect combination of charming towns, beautiful beaches and archaic history. The island’s capital, Rhodes Old Town was once home to a wonder of the world, the mighty Colossus of Rhodes. Rhodes is served by an airport, as well as regular ferries from Athens’ port, Piraeus.

4. Nafplio 

Often cited as Greece’s most beautiful city, Nafplio is a popular weekend destination for wealthy Athenians. Nafplio also offers some great restaurants and beaches where you can kick back and relax while million-dollar yachts “park” in the harbor next to you.

5. Mykonos

Greece’s most glamorous island destination is Mykonos. Mykonos Town, noted for its chic boutique hotels, classy seafood restaurants, and live music venues. There are also dozens of activities available on Mykonos beaches, including parasailing, horseback riding, windsurfing, jet-skiing and skiing.

6. Santorini 

No list of the best places to visit in Greece is complete without Santorini. It is famous for its dramatic views, stunning sunsets, the white-washed houses, and its very own active volcano. This spectacularly beautiful place is one of the most scenic in all the Greek Islands.
